David Abell has been with Composable Systems for nearly four years now working on our Microsoft team. A fan of futuristic television shows such as Dr. Who and West World, David is obviously a fan of technology so it’s not surprising that he ultimately ended up in software development.
What did you want to be when you were five years old?
I wanted to be a paleontologist. I would always get dinosaur books when I went to the library.
When did you decide you wanted to be a developer instead of a paleontologist?
In high School, but when I went to college I switched to law enforcement and after a degree in that I switched back to developing.
Do you have any cool or bizarre talent?
Not even wiggling your ears?
I know you really love Dr. Who. Do you have a favorite quote?
“There’s something that doesn’t make sense. Let’s go and poke it with a stick.”
The Eleventh Doctor
What advice would you give to yourself 10 years ago?
To stick with developing and not waste time switching majors.
If you could travel anywhere you want, where would you go?
Japan – because it’s on the other side of the world and I have never been.
What’s the best thing about Composable Systems?
It’s willingness to invest in people. Composable allows me the opportunity to work alongside other very talented developers.
